Research institutes and centres

Research transfer to industry and civil society
From the natural sciences to the humanities, members of the University of Augsburg possess expertise in a broad range of fields, developing innovative ideas and solutions for transfer to industry and the wider civil society.
External research institutes and centres
As a network university, the University of Augsburg cooperates with leading external research institutes and centres in order to develop new knowledge in both fundamental and applied fields of research. External research partners include Fraunhofer, DLR, as well as the Max Planck Institute.
Promoting early-career researchers
Early-career researchers are supported throughout their doctoral studies through academic conferences as well as scholarships and mentoring programmes. Alongside graduate programmes, the faculties offer a broad spectrum of doctoral topics for potential researchers.
International researchers
Research is international! The ‘Welcome Service’ of the International Office supports international researchers throughout their stay at the University of Augsburg.

Dr. Jauwairia Nasir from the chair of human-centered AI got selected as one of the “Rising Woman Stars in Social Robotics” and was invited to give a spotlight talk at the 17th edition of International Conference of Social Robotics + AI 2025 in Naples, Italy.
In silent mourning for Prof. Dominik Wortig
It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Prof. Dominik Wortig, an outstanding tenor, dedicated singing teacher and passionate director of the Leopold Mozart College of Music at the University of Augsburg. His sudden and untimely death leaves a painful void – not only in the musical and academic world, but above all in the hearts of all those who knew and appreciated him personally.
Heart attacks despite medication: Augsburg research team discovers new risk group
Scientists at the University of Augsburg have discovered a particularly active subgroup of blood platelets that cause heart attacks in people with coronary heart disease despite drug therapy. This discovery may open up new prospects for customized therapies. The research results are published in the renowned European Heart Journal and were presented at Europe's largest cardiology congress.
